The traditional iPhone launch day queue has been given a modern twist by a woman who has sent a robot to line up in her place to buy an iPhone 6s.
Named Lucy after its controller, Lucy Kelly, the robot joined the queue outside Sydney’s flagship Apple Store in Australia, managing to nab the fourth spot in line.
It is believed to be the first time that a robot has queued up to buy an iPhone.
According to Mashable, the robot was supplied by media agency Atomic 212, where the real-life Lucy works.
The robot features an iPad attached to a Segway-style scooter, with an app enabling the controller to communicate remotely.
The first person in the line, Lindsay Handmer, has been camping outside the Sydney store since the new iPhone 6s & 6s Plus were announced more than two weeks ago.
Due to the time zone, shoppers in Australia are likely to be the first to obtain their hands on the new devices, which go on sale tomorrow (Friday 24 September).
