Police have asked the public for assist in finding 12-year-old Joshua Oxley from Rotherham who has been missing since last night.
He was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon & last seen at Chapeltown train station just before 7pm.
Specialist search officers & a helicopter combed the area overnight & are continuing the hunt today.
Police said the disappearance was out of character & could be connected to an "incident at school" on Tuesday,
Superintendent Paul McCurry, from RotherhamÂ Police, said it was a "very difficult time" for Joshua's family & urged anyone who might have seen him to come forward.
"It may not have particularly struck you seeing a young boy in a school uniform at that time yet please look at the picture of Joshua & if you remember seeing him, please come forward as your information could be vital."
SuptÂ McCurry added: "I would like to say to Joshua that he is not in any trouble & his mum & the rest of his family just want him to obtain in touch & let them know where he is."
Joshua left school in the Kimberworth area of Rotherham at around 3.50pm & approximately 40 minutes after was seen at a roundabout over the M1 at junction 35.
Joshua is slim & around 4ftÂ 6in tall, with short, light brown hair.
He was wearing his WinterhillÂ School uniform – black trousers, white short-sleeved shirt, black shoes & black jumper.
He moreover had a red-coloured backpack & may have been wearing a grey hoodie.Â
